Standing Together is a national charity bringing communities together to end domestic abuse.
We bring local services together to keep people safe.
Most public services weren't designed with domestic abuse in mind, and they often struggle to keep people safe. Poor communication and gaps between services put survivors at risk. Standing Together aims to end domestic abuse by changing how local areas respond to it. We do this through an approach that we pioneered, called the Coordinated Community Response (CCR).
The Coordinated Community Response brings services together to ensure local systems truly keep survivors safe, hold abusers to account, and prevent domestic abuse. Our model of a coordinated local partnership to tackle and ultimately prevent domestic abuse is now widely accepted as best practice.
We also deliver training to a range of professionals, including criminal justice partners, police, health professionals, housing associations, MARACs, social services, local authorities and faith groups. If you are interested in learning more about our training, see our training page.
We aim to see every area in the UK adopt the Coordinated Community Response, in order to:
Keep survivors and their families safe.
Hold abusers to account and change damaging behaviours.
Prevent and ultimately end domestic abuse.
Our aims
We use our experience and expertise to advise and support organisations and local authority areas to introduce, strengthen, or develop the Coordinated Community Response in their area.
We work with communities to bring together all the different local agencies playing a part in tackling abuse, from prevention to prosecution and beyond. We help them to coordinate their activities, review their performance, identify gaps, and support them to improve.
How we work
We use our experience and expertise to advise and support organisations and local authority areas to introduce, strengthen, or develop the Coordinated Community Response in their area.
We work with communities to bring together all the different local agencies that play a part in tackling abuse, from prevention to prosecution and beyond. We help them to coordinate their activities, review their performance, identify gaps, and support them to improve.
We also deliver training and develop resources to make sure that professionals in public services feel confident dealing with disclosures of domestic abuse safely and effectively.
Our Impact
Over the years, we have influenced the national and local governments to ensure a better response to domestic abuse. As a result, significant and positive changes have occurred in the provision of services and policies aimed at reducing the risk of domestic abuse.
"Standing Together have consistently helped all of us, in this global effort to end violence in the lives of women and children, to think better, do better and in doing so create a better future."
