Multiple Disadvantages
Fusce natoque condimentum suspendisse augue.
Our work around Multiple Disadvantages (MD) educates providers on supporting survivors facing overlapping challenges such as homelessness, along with problematic substance misuse, interpersonal violence, and mental health issues, compounded by discrimination based on age, gender, ethnicity, sexuality, disability, and religion. These survivors are often the most overlooked and underserved. We also equip professionals to support homeless women impacted by multiple disadvantages, including when perpetrators remain present.
Recognising MD as a systemic issue rather than an individual failing, we address structural barriers, help organisations embed best practices, and drive policy change at local and national levels. Our expansion into children and young people’s
(CYP) services recently has opened up new avenues to explore Multiple Disadvantages among this group, who also have their own unique and intersecting challenges including mental health struggles, suicide, self-harm, social isolation, problematic substance abuse, and cycles of abuse.
