At Standing Together we keep survivor voices and lived experience central to all the systems we influence for the betterment of all victim-survivors. We work with victim-survivors of all ages, genders, and backgrounds at various stages of their journey. 

Survivor voice work is still evolving here at Standing Together, but in every opportunity, we will work with survivors to ensure they are safe, comfortable and as confident as possible to participate. 

Survivor voice can take on various formats, but at this time, this is how we deliver the projects we undertake:

  • Consultation (one to one conversations, focus groups, surveys, creative workshops etc)

  • Co-production & Co-design (panels, forums, networks etc)

  • Training (including lived experiences examples, quotes etc)

  • Events in person and online (attending, speaking or facilitating at an events, quotes etc)

  • Media (speaking with journalists for print or broadcast including television and radio)

  • Other ad hoc pieces (poems, letters to Ministers etc)

The Poems were a creative series centred on survivor voices to mark 16 days of activism. Poems were co-created with the survivors in designing the visuals, some of the voiceovers and in writing. We are grateful to the survivors who shared, reminding us of the courage and leadership they hold across our communities

These Boots, is a co-produced poem with the Survivor Voice Network from the Whole Health Project. It is a powerful symbol of the journey victim-survivors undertake and the battles they fight, often silently, in their quest for freedom and justice.

The Survivor Voice Digital Exhibition is a collection of artwork curated over the course of the Whole Health Project through a series of creative workshops with victim survivors of domestic abuse, and those who have supported friends, family member or colleagues with lived experience. Participants involved were from age 13+.

Exhibits include a variety of mediums through masks, plasticine models, posters, poems, and more. The participant were broken into two groups. The first being those who wanted to creatively portray their lived experience of healthcare services, encompassing the barriers they faced and the impact. The latter was with young people focusing on what the vision of the perfect version of healthcare services for victim survivors of domestic abuse.
