We are currently able to offer a number of training sessions online via Zoom;
- Coercive Control (2 hours)
- Dynamics of domestic abuse (two 3 hour blocks over two days)
- Responding to domestic abuse for health practitioners (two 3 hour blocks over two days).
Domestic abuse is a health issue. Within the wider Coordinated Community Response to domestic abuse, health professionals play a pivotal role, in improving the safety and wellbeing of survivors and their children and holding perpetrators to account for their actions.
This training is aimed at any health professional (clinical and non-clinical) who wants to improve their skills and confidence in recognising and responding to domestic abuse.
Following the completion of this training, participants will gain an understanding of:
The role of a health professional in responding to domestic abuse
The impacts of domestic abuse on a person’s physical and mental health
The definition and dynamics of domestic abuse, including tactics of coercive control
The barriers a survivor may face in accessing appropriate support for domestic abuse
How to identify domestic abuse and how indicators may vary within different health settings
How to safely an appropriately enquire about domestic abuse
How to assess risk using professional judgement
Basic safety planning information and action
Appropriate referrals to specialist support services including IDVA and MARAC referrals
This training does not cover:
Responding to perpetrators of domestic abuse
Training in the Domestic Abuse Stalking and ‘Honour’ Based Violence Risk Identification Checklist (DASH RIC)
Supporting under 16s in relation to domestic abuse

This training will take place over 2 webinars, with assigned work to complete following session 1.

Session 2 – 01/07/2020, 10:00 – 13:00
No prior training is required
Participants require the use of a computer, headphones and a microphone to complete this training.
